Crystalline is an audio-visual piano recital around spectral piano music. The concert moves from early pieces in which Messiaen looks back to Debussy, to a more complex language in Vingt regards sur l’Enfant Jésus, from where Murail takes over with compositions that defined a new style: ‘spectral music’. Tanaka eventually returns to simplicity.
